The Dark Side of My Kitchen

This is what I want you to think my kitchen looks like at all times...

...but the reality is more like this.

I spend a lot of time blogging. I spend a lot of time cooking for my blog. But what you probably don't know is that I spend just as much time cleaning junk mail/dried on food spots/cats off my countertops/sinks/refrigerator, so that when I take a photo, everything is sparkling clean.

Oops! Forgot about the gumbo.

Oops! Forgot about the gravy.

I also spend more time than I'd like to admit doctoring up my food so it looks perfect when in fact, I burned/undercooked/dropped it. When you see gravy or whipped cream covering one of my concoctions, be suspicious.

Does your kitchen ever have a moment?

  1. My kitchen is small, so it doesn't take much to make it look like a total disaster!

  2. My kitchen is always a bit happier when I clear the dishes from its counter and feed the dishwasher -- but the stove is constantly asking for a proper bath!!

  3. Haha! Fabulous! Fortunately for me, my husband is in charge of cleaning the kitchen and he does that job pretty well. Lucky, lucky me! :)

  4. We both hate doing the dishes, so they tend to sit overnight... and into the next afternoon. Heck, it's pretty common for one of us to be doing the dishes from the night before while the other person cooks.

  5. We have a tiny kitchen and dishes that like to spawn more dishes while we sleep, so I totally feel ya.

  6. My Ogre does the cooking, so I get to do the cleaning. Luckily, he doesn't usually make too much of a mess that I can't just stick in the trusty dishwasher!!

  7. This is great ! It's nice to know you're not 100 percent perfect (pretty close but not absolute). :)
I think it is impossible to cook and have a spotless kitchen at the same time ... well maybe if you have a maid that is constantly washing up utensils and cleaning up every spill as you cook but that's a different lifestyle and far outside my limited checkbook.
