Red White and Blue Strawberries

Happy belated 4th, otherwise known as the 5th. I wasn't going to post this white chocolate/blue sprinkle-dipped strawberry because it's too late but they came out so great that I couldn't resist. I got the idea from my Etsy friend Julie, who made them with her daughter's preschool class for Memorial Day.

Now that Independence Day is over, I'm thinking of variations on this easy treat for next holiday.

Halloween/Thanksgiving (Fall colors)
Pineapple, milk chocolate, orange sprinkles
Mango or apricot, white chocolate, yellow sprinkles
Tangerine or orange segments, milk chocolate, red sprinkles

Christmas/Cinco de Mayo

Red apples with green sprinkles
Green apples with red sprinkles
Kiwi with red sprinkles

Valentine's Day
Strawberries with white chocolate and pink sprinkles

Easter
Pineapple, kiwi, strawberry with white chocolate and any pastel sprinkles

Dried fruit could be a great option too, especially in winter when lots of fruit is out of season. Dried apricots, mangoes, pineapple, and papaya could all be dipped in dark or white chocolate and made into healthy-ish and fun snacks for the kids.

  3. It surprised me how good they tasted! I just made them for looks. But then again, strawberries, chocolate, sugar...I should know.

  4. There's something wrong with your clock. It says you posted this at 2:22 AM, then you had a follow-up comment at 7:42 AM. You need to get that fixed.

  6. Oh yeah, I meant to tell you I came across a recipe for homemade pop tarts if you're still looking for one, though it's not s'mores, it still looks delicious:
